Who we are
Personal data collection and how it is shared
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children’s internet usage to never provide personal information through websites without parental permission.
Events and Services
Personal information is collected with both online and offline event and service registration, including name, email, phone number, and state of residence and is used for event and/or service registration purposes, including subscription to EmpowR communication emails. Events and other services (including online sessions) use third party hosts (Zoom, webinars) and are in compliance with third party vendor privacy statements.
Information collected from EmpowR contact forms, events, services, and relationships comprise EmpowR’s Mailchimp subscription list. You may manage your receipt of communications by clicking on the “unsubscribe” link located on the bottom of EmpowR Voice newsletter and other EmpowR communication emails. You cannot opt out of receiving transactional emails related to EmpowR services and events. We will process unsubscribe requests in a timely manner; however, it is not always possible to completely remove or modify information in our databases.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Information collected uses cookie technology. Cookies are small packets of data that a website stores on your computer’s or mobile device’s hard drive so that your computer will “remember” information about your visit. We may use both session cookies (which expire once you close your web browser) and persistent cookies (which stay on your computer until you delete them) to help us collect information for Google Analytics and to enhance your experience using the website.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you do not want us to place a cookie on your hard drive, you may be able to turn that feature off on your computer or mobile device. Please consult your internet browser’s documentation for information on how to do this and how to delete persistent cookies. However, if you decide not to accept cookies from us, the website may not function properly.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
To the extent permitted by law, we may disclose personal information: (i) when required by law, court order, or other government or law enforcement authority or regulatory agency; or (ii) whenever we believe that disclosing such information is necessary or advisable, for example, to protect the rights, property, or safety of EmpowR. Please keep in mind that whenever you voluntarily make your personal information available to third parties (blog comments, email, Zoom sessions, webinars, workshops, social media, etc.) that information can be seen, collected, heard, and/or used by others besides us. We cannot be responsible for any unauthorized third-party use of such information.
We take applicable steps to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. All security systems can be penetrated and we cannot guarantee the security of our databases or third party applications. There is no guarantee that information you provide is safe during transmission over the internet or that emails are secure. Take special care in deciding what information you send to us via email, contact form submission, or in comments.
