Grandmother Cherry Sanctuary Land Access Trade Partnership is a mutual aid relationship between land holders, Rae Carter and Mitch Pauley, and a small group of community members seeking land for seasonal camping, garden space to grow food and medicine in creative ways, music studio space, private forest, and an enchanting woodland retreat to enjoy as a small community camp.
This is a creative solution to match needs with resources and explore ways to share land access, explore intentional community and succession planning, grow food and medicine for community and mutual aid, and maintain local stewardship of land.
We Offer:
- Year round access to 7 acres of land, trails & sacred spaces Grandmother Cherry Sanctuary – a medicinal plan micro farm and forest healing sanctuary; part of the Old Growth Forest Network, a Certified Wildlife Habitat from the National Wildlife Federation, and member of United Plant Savers and NOFA VT
- Seasonal remote and car camping with space to create a new community/group campsite, option to add storage buildings or infrastructure
- Access to Hygge Den Studio – bathroom and shower, kitchen, fully equipped music studio with soundboard, surround sound speakers, headphones, wifi, drums, bass, keys, xylophone, percussion, mics, DJ station
- Garden and uncultivated land for micro farm and homestead growing, berry bushes and fruit trees and options to expand; tools and space for collective harvest; possibilities for business partnership, connected to Plainfield Resilience Hub for community mutual aid and local economy
- Build skills and receive passed down land, forest, and healing wisdom from becoming elders, Rae and Mitch; cocreate ways to practice land sharing working with conscious communication and conflict evolution
You Offer:
- Creation of a new group campsite for small group of community members (yourself included)
- Project and space based labor with a mix of some direction and taking initiative to work on something that calls to you to tend to on the land or in building infrastructure
- Trade exchange is determined in direct conversations with clarity and balance in reciprocity
- Intention in building a relationship of with this land, Rae and Mitch, and are open to longer term conversations about land sharing but not with any expectation – relationships and trust take time to build
