About EmpowR
purpose
be the change we want to see in the world
vision
heal the heart of humanity
mission
co-create cultures of empathy, healing, community, and accountability
centered in equity and belonging
EmpowR invokes power in people to believe, trust, envision, and create what is possible.
EmpowR co-creators facilitate community building; social and emotional healing; interpersonal, group, and organizational dialogue; and new ways of being in relationship with our bodies, each other, and the Earth.
We hold space and guide transformation for multiple truths and lived experiences existing at the same time. We are trauma responsive. We practice embodied anti-racist culture. We make mistakes. We take responsibility for our impacts and share the learning forward.
We embody transformation.
Our Accountability
EmpowR is a container accountable to transformative justice and emergent strategy principles.
EmpowR Co-Creators
EmpowR co-creators are facilitators, educators, health practitioners, artists, change makers, activists, and a growing community of people who are committed to building healing, anti-racist culture.
Our work is informed by our lived experiences, professional backgrounds, personal healing and transformation journeys, educational pathways, and how we communicate and share knowledge and wisdom.
With deep gratitude and reverence we acknowledge many visionary culture builders, change makers, activists, and thought leaders who inform our work. Our Story
EmpowR was birthed into being by Rae Carter in 2019, during her recovery from cancer, several interconnected health challenges, and personal trauma from physical, social, and economic situations and inequities—all of which illuminated the toxicity of dominant culture, systemic injustice in the health care system, and the interplay of both with environment injustice.
Rae integrated her career background in communications, organizational development, human behavior, and social change with training in holistic health and intuitive healing practices sparked by her health crisis. Her deep exploration into trauma and ancestral healing as she navigated allopathic, naturopathic, and spiritual medicines catalyzed her personal transformation and revealed a vision for connecting personal and cultural healing. A complex examination into the relationship between self and culture, from a root cause analysis lens, propelled Rae into a lived experience educational pathway. Aligning her vision with teachers of transformative justice activated a commitment to an anti-racist journey and unpacking the truth of whiteness. Rae began to build EmpowR as a container to support the Great Turning—the shift from an industrial growth society to a life-sustaining civilization.
As the EmpowR foundation was grounded into being, Rae engaged in innovative relationship and community building, during the pandemic, to connect with change makers aligned with the shared vision to heal the heart of humanity. The EmpowR co-creator team and growing EmpowR community are weaving intentional culture which directly informs EmpowR’s scope and approaches to personal, organizational, and cultural transformation.
Our story is old, its roots in the awakening consciousness of reclaiming our power. And our story is just beginning. We hope you will be a part of it.
